I would recommend, without hesitation, Motherland Nepal Trekking
Motherland took us on the most adventurous trip of my life! Although we trekked only from Jomson to Pokhara, we had ten days of culture, climbing and beautiful scenery. Our guide, K.C, taught us much about different types of Nepali people and Nepali Flora and Fauna. K.C ensured we were well cared for and fed only the best! Back in KTM the rest of the Motherland crew ensured we had ample directions, great accommodations, and mainly that we wanted for nothing. I would recommend, without hesitation, Motherland Nepal Trekking for anyone interested in a safe, fun trekking experience.
Thank you Krishna, Navaraj, Kumar and the rest of Motherland. And a big thanks to Mr. Kundan K.C!

We would like to thank Motherland Trekking for providing us the opportunity to have the experience of a lifetime!! We had a fantastic trek, great weather (especially over the Thorung la Pass) and Dambar. Our guide was invaluable! He and our porter, Buddi, completed our Nepali experience by introducing us to aspects of the culture we would otherwise never have seen. We’ll never forget the goats head, the dancing or the apple boundary! We’ll try to remember the Nepali words Dambar taught us and that whenever climbing uphill, we should go: Bistari! Bistari!
Thanks again Motherland & best of luck in the future! We’re sure of your success and will let everyone we know what a great trekking company you are!

Trekking with Ramesh is 100% enjoyable experience.
I have just returned from my third trek with Ramesh Prasad Dhamala our guide (previously trekked twice with Ramesh as a Parner with another company). In addition to being efficient, knowledgeable and very concerned about his clients, Ramesh has a wonderful sense of humor and there is never a dull moment when he is around. We have travelled the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Sanctuary and Pokhara to Muktinath routes together in the past six months. Ramesh is very resourceful and confident and flexible- I haven’t found any problem to date that he has not been able to overcome! Trekking with Ramesh is 100% enjoyable experience.
Every one of the principals of Motherland Nepal trekking has shown themselves to be sincerely dedicated to meeting their climax needs. The company is young but the owners are certainly experienced in the roof of the mountains, love for their country and people and their desire to be member/ in customer service among all the trekking companies In Nepal.

Thank you motherland, for an experience I will never forget. Arranging our trek with allowed me to see Nepal and its culture and way I otherwise wouldn’t have. Our guide kundan patiently answered my endless questions and supplied a great deal of additional information. He made sure we ate well, even brought us tea and a shot wonderful. Thank you as well for showing us around Kathmandu, helping us with accommodation, meeting us at the airport and everything else. To all the potential trekkers with motherland we recommend their services.
To all the potential trekkers with motherland we recommend their services. We are two kiwi girls (n.z) who ventured up into the Annapurna sanctuary on a 14 day hike.
Our guide Dambar and porter Resha took excellent care of us and we were spoilt rotten. Usually in N.Z when we go walking we carry our own food and packs. This idea of a porter was very appealing and we were glad we had are as some days were quite hard going and it was nice to walk unburdened.
The tea- houses looked after us nicely and the food was lovely. Both Rachael and myself are glad to say motherland is a company and make use of their professional services.

22/11/97
I’ve returned from a 14 day trek in langtang and Annapurna with my guide, now friend Vishwa. It was an unforgettable experience and the greatest travel adventure I have had to date. In visiting the mountains and villages Vishwa opened my eyes to the culture and beauty of this amazing country. Along the way. I felt like as if I was of the land and not just another tourist passing through. There were many special moments for me from climbing my highest peak to huddling around a kitchen fire laughing and joking with the locals!
I give a whole hearted recommendation to Motherland and in particular my friend Vishwa. All details were thought of ahead of time by a professional but warm group of friends at Motherland. I plan to come back soon, but as a guide this time! (if they will let me)
I highly recommend a trip to Chitwan if you have time.

Now we are back from the beautiful and quiet mountains only for a few hours and already I miss the peacefulness.
We wish really enjoyed our trekking tour to Dimlooche, even though it was hard sometimes. Our guides were very helpful and patient even with our slow German walking. But we made it slowly but we got higher and higher. We want to thank Nepal Motherland Trekking and its staffs for 12 wonderful days in which everything was prepared for us!
It surely was not our last trip to Nepal and the Himalayas and we hope to see you again.

I was going to take a Balloon trip sat was persuaded to trek instead 12 days in Pokhara to Annapurna Base camp. To be honest I may not have gone if I’d unknown the climbs involved ( 2 previous knee operations ). However as I had afforded myself a guide and porter (luxury! enjoyment! ) I had no worries. Prakash the guide was thorough, careful and a sober person whom I could trust. Ramesh my porter slogged with my pack over hill and dale ice and snow. I have administration for him too.
With caution we approached ABC as there had been avalanches a couple of days before. This had been carefully considered by Rakesh. Only 2 days bad weather the rest was fantastic and we were able to get optimum views from strategic points of all the valleys and mountains.
It has been a really great experience. The organization is thorough and attentive. Once again my mum thanks to Rahel, Ramesh and Motherland for all their care.

An exceptionally good trek, which surpasses all my other trekking experiences.
9 December 1997
Just back in Kathmandu, having done the Annapurna circuit. An exceptionally good trek, which surpasses all my other trekking experiences. I along with trekking companions had the pleasure of Shiva’s company for much of the time until he had to turn back with some of our party who had difficulties. He was at all; times most reliable and his sense of humor never failed him. We had many mirthful moments practicing our Nepali with him and he was very patient in this respect.
Finally a word of thanks to Motherland Trekking agency. I found them to the far more than a business company, and their hospitality and cordiality was most sincere. I have no problem in recommending them to all trekkers for their professionalism.

Trekking around Annapurna with Bharat Thapa (my guide) was the most amazing experience I’ve had anywhere. Bharat did everything possible to make my trek interesting and fantastic. He was not only helpful and excellent company but he also treated other trekkers we met along the way as kind and helpful as he was to me- everything went smoothly with this company- transportation, food, ………….., it was extremely impressed with everything- the trek itself was spectacular , and there was lots of snow at Thorung La. We did the trek in 17 days and then I went with Bharat to visit his family in a village far different from the tourism influenced Annapurna circuit. This was another experience in itself and finally I felt complete language barrier in the Nepal- it was fantastic and his family’s hospitality to us was out the exchange of words was perfect, although at times it was difficult we trekked as a festival in a nearby village and all could do was smile and try trek was fantastic and I recommend Motherland to anyone whose is looking to spend some valuable time in these magic hills. Thanks so much Bharat!

OUR HOTEL MENTIONED THE MOTHERLAND TREKKING COMPANY, AND WE ARE SURE GLAD THEY DID. THE COMPANY EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO US VERY CLEARLY AND OFFERED MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF PACKAGES TO CHOOSE FROM. THE PACKAGE WE CHYOOSE WAS WRITTEN OUT IN DETAIL SO WE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE GETTING. OUR GUIDE DAMBAR WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! HIS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE OF THE ANNAPURNA RE4GION WAS EXCELLENT! We feel we‘ve accomplished something and it was really worthwhile.
Looking back over the weekend (just a weedy 3 day trek). I think that we can say we enjoyed it! The first day was a bit tough- uphill. Nine of us realized just how unfit we were. Bhim Lama our guide was very frequent stops too which was good. He knows what he was doing and his short cuts were a bit….. Steep! The views were amazing and the tea houses were really cozy. Considering it was an only a short trek we feel we‘ve accomplished something and it was really worthwhile.
It was great fun and Bhim kept us entertained with his singing and his smiling. Thank you v. much Mr. Motherland,

had a fantastic 12 days trekking with Motherland. My guide Rakesh and I originally set for ABC, but due to snow we were forced to reroute. It ended up being better as we got to soak in the luxurious mineral baths of Tatopani.
Motherland was professional to the end and I would definitely recommend them. They provided me with an excellent deal (I shopped around) and the service was superior. What matters most, I’ve found, is the guide. The company is important only at the beginning and end of a trek. Otherwise it’s just you and your guide for 5, 10, and 20 days…. So make sure you and your guide get along.
Thanks to Motherland for all their help and good luck trekking!

To whom it may concern,
Unfortunately, I did not have the time (due to previous engagements) to enjoy the country as much as I would have liked. Therefore the trek needed to be rushed. Motherland having taken this into account proceeded to assemble the ultimate adventure thrown into four days.
The guide was extremely helpful and friendly to say the least. The climb was made all the more pleasant with his company and useful information of people and culture. As far as the accommodations were concerned, they were surpassingly good (with hot showers you will need) and the food was extremely tasty and fresh.
Motherland truly takes its commitment to service seriously. Rarely have I been treated so well. I recommend this group to all that would like to enjoy Nepal to the fullest.

I have just completed a wee trek in the Helambu area (due to time limitations) and had a wonderful and most interesting time. I am interested in the people and cultures and this is a great area to experience this. Motherland pointed out significant areas and places of interest and the guide Bharat was a wealth in information as we went along with his explanation and knowledge. He always seemed to get us into the most comfortable and friendly lodges and was always most attentive to my requirements and foods etc. the pace set was to my ………………… and so the trek was always comfortable. Motherland before during and after the trek were always friendly, courteous and enthusiastic and it has been a pleasure to deal with them and look forward to future events.

We did 2 treks motherland: the first a 2 two week trek to the Annapurna base camp, which was very hard but worthwhile especially when reach ABC. Our guide Krishna was very friendly or our friend Krishna was very guiding .also when our friend was ill he arranged for her recovery, it was then after this trek Krishna took us to his home village baseri on a non tourist trek which was very interesting and one hell of an experience. Krishna and Motherland also very helpful outside of treks by arranging our flights and good hotel in Kathmandu out of kindness.

I felt like ray Charles driving and the freeway at rush hour.
28.05.98
Before starting my trek (ABC), I felt like ray Charles driving and the freeway at rush hour. (Definitely in over my heart) but to my surprise my beer soaked out of shape body made over the course, and in record time. (Well for me anyway) I owe it all to the tireless help of my trusty guide(and friend) “khan the man” he took a great care of me pointing the way, refilling my water bottle and promising to set me up with beautiful Nepalese girls ( this never actually materialized but it did motivate me to trudge on to the next lodged in search of ever elusive mountain beauty.) anyw2aaay I never could have managed without the help of the aforementioned “khan” and the lovely folks at motherland (who were “a lot” cheaper than 1st environment ) although I am quite pleased with my trek I can’t be bothered to write anymore glowing endorsements (unless they pay me) so on that note sign up, trek on and keep your eyes peeled for yetis!

Annapurna circuit with Som Gurung
An excellent 21 days with great scenery and people. Only the day when we crossed Thorong La pass was strenuous all the others left plenty of time for relaxing.
We had Som as our porter /guide and for the two of us this turned out to be an excellent option. Firstly not having to carry all our gear made life easier. Secondly having someone who knew what sort of distances to do each day and where the good kitchens were meant we could just trek without any great decision making. Thirdly the great /interaction we had throughout the days and evenings with Som kept things interesting.
We had no problems with Som at all. He did everything for us without being asked (except washing our laundry!) which we believe was well about the call of duty. We have no hesitation in recommending him.
Thanks Som & motherland trekking

Thanks a lot to motherland Nepal trekking and expedition and in particular, our excellent guide Shiba Hari! We have just completed the 21 day Annapurna circuit – the most challenging experience- great views of the Himalaya and great encounters with many Nepali and fellow trekkers.
Nepal is a marvelous country! great culture and nature. The people of the hills are extremely nice and friendly. Our guide helped us understand a little more of that culture (which is much diversified around Annapurna) and a lot about the geography! Overall, it’s been a fabulous experience.
The Annapurna circuit trek is very challenging job it is good to take some days off along the route. We stopped in Manang, Tatopani, and Vlleri for 2 nights which gave us the chance to take it easy. All guest houses and tea houses were great and have their individual characters. Since we were with a guide, we didn’t have to worry about logistics or route finding or money or emergencies. All we had to do was what we came here to do TREK IN THE HIMALAYA!

You have come to the right place and found the right team.
18 June 1998
Namaste to all would be trekkers!
You have come to the right place and found the right team. The lads at Motherland will show you landscapes and scenery that you thought only existed in picture books and introduce you to some truly nice people along the way.
This was my first experience trekking in Nepal, but live already started making plans to come back again. Why? Largely because of Vishwa my guide who quickly became my friend too. He knows the mountains and is able to adopt a trek to your abilities and even to your pace, but shows you strength you didn’t know you had. He is full of interesting information about Nepali people and customs, too. And he’s also an easy person to open up to and talk about life and feelings and the universe with.
The entire trek was conducted professionally and safely. The business side was handled honestly and fairly I am really happy to have found Motherland and I am happy for you too that you are going out on a trek with these guys. Have a great time!

My wife and I here just returned from a 12 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Although the monsoon hasn’t brought expected nature the trek itself the guide (Shiba) and the porter (mega) made fantastic. The dads’ ponted for a phenomenal morning at ABC where we found ourselves surrounded by many snow capped pears p. the tea house which Motherland selected for our overnight stay was wonderfully typical of Nepalese culture and every one we met (absolutely lovely one) was courteous, friendly and a pleasure to be around. ……….. Which trek to so on and which of the numerous companions to go with Motherland and ABC stood out above the treks .Motherland managed our every need and listed to our menu and thoughts was genuine instant and career. ABC is a great trek especially for the time of fear ………………. I highly recommend Motherland ABC trek and Shiba (guide) and Mega.

Again despite the weather I had a good experience.

I went on a four day trekking tour and my guide was Dambar. We went to Chisopani, Nagarkot, Dhulekhel. The first day we went to Chisapani and the weather was clean for the first half of the day. After that it started to rain and it became cloudy. The days that followed were also cloudy and it was difficult to see. Be that as it may, my guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was also very encouraging despite the weather. I would like to have him as my guide again when I return to Nepal. The next time I was told that it is clean during those …. Again despite the weather I had a good experience.

An excellent trekking adventure, we experienced far more than we could have imagined, excellent views, wonderful peop0le, especially our guide “Norbu” who explained local customs, flora and fauna. Generally made the trek a lot of fun. Highly recommend a guide for a fulfilling trekking experience.

I felt like and was treated as if we were family.
Motherland trekking took my wife and I on trek through Annapurna. The guide’s intuition of our abilities was dead on. His choices of rest houses were appreciable. The hospitality at these places, (not to mention the food) made this a trek that I will never forget.
I saw many trekkers with their guides who seemed to be inexperienced on the region. I felt very blessed that Norbu our guide was so experienced and taught me as much about the region, culture and people as I could retain. I felt like and was treated as if we were family.

we were invited for rakshi, tikka, yak butter, tea.
We just finished the Annapurna circuit trek with our guide? Porter Sila. We had a wonderful trip. Shiba was helpful is a number of different ways, route finding and carrying lots of weight of course. But also in a few other unexpected ways. Siba always managed to find us lodge with great food the lodge owner also loved and we were treated specially as a result we were invited for rakshi, tikka, yak butter, tea. All because the lodge owner like and knew siba.
We never had to first worry about lodges, especially on that first day when we had to change buses or to fooding. Other trekkers were on the roof, in the pouring rain while we were inside and dry. Siba has an excellent ………………. Is always calm clever when were not). Also he’s a good (and player – a nice skill in the lodges. the only thing to watch out for is what siba thinks is an easy route might not be for you. But we came out totally unscathed.
Thanks

20 days- pokhara- Annapurna Base Camp- Muktinath
we were looked after famously by our excellent guide, Deepak. ABC was out of hand, we were on top of the world as for as we were concerned. We got tired and a bit sick in the middle but Deepak helped us our loads…
Thanks for the ‘Black magic’ card, tricks and for making sure we got our meals when the kitchens were really busy.
Motherland trekking is well organized and professional. We never had any worries at any stage. Oh yeah, the Kagbeni apples were superb-supplied on behalf of Deepak, thanks!
All the best, see you soon.

We have had the pleasure of trekking with Devendra Bohara for past 21 days “around Annapurna”. He is a kind, gentle and careful guide, who knows the trek very well. He was always in a good mood and a pleasure to be with.
As group leader of the 1998 Great Canadian team many thanks to mother luna trekking for helping to make this trip a memorable experience for all. The logistics of meeting the needs of 17 individualists along with their demanding team leader is not an easy task but Motherland was equal to the task.
Guide Ramesh p. Dhamala, Nava Raj Pandey and Shiva ………. Rejal were willing and able and very enthusiastic making our trip even more enjoyable porter were all hardworking and great fun! Our cooks on the tented trek (10 days) created some great meals and we were well fed and accommodated on our 2, 18 day treks in Annapurna and Everest a happy group means an even happier Group Leader!
Chitwan Park and the Paradise Hotel Sauraha was also Great! We had 40 memorable days in Nepal.
Thanks Motherland

We were two Nepal cookies with no idea of what to expect. A friend from home recommended Motherland Trekking. From the moment we were picked up at the airport (with marigold garlands) they took exceptional care of us. After considering many options we chose the Annapurna Base Camp trek and a Chitwan National park safari. Our guide Dambar only added to our enjoyment with high knowledge and sense of humor. Having chosen an all inclusive package we had no hassles (no worries chicken curry). We were happy to report5 Canada remains snakes and ladders and s.o.s. champs but unfortunately we can’t say the same for clouds!
We had a blast and vow to return next is Everest!
p.s. try the snickers Roll! (It’s worth it).
Namaste!!

Luckily first impressions are not always the last.
Nov 20 1998
Coming in the office of Motherland Nepal didn’t give me the impression that this was a good, well operated Trekking organization. Luckily first impressions are not always the last. We decided to do the Annapurna circuit with one guide\porter after debating /discussing it for half an hour. Our guide was a kiny, little fellow called Meghnath who turned out to be very good and helpful assistants. I would like to describe him as my ‘shadow’ because he was close behind me at every difficult part of the trek. As soon as I slipped or even made the impression to do so, he grabbed my arm and became an anchor. Besides that he arranged the bills during days at the teahouses and brought always something special. He even managed to carry two big backpacks up the Thorung La pass, helping out a poor Canadian guy at the end of his strength. That says also something about his character, because he ……….. Offered to do so, while I was too busy to ‘service’ with my small pack.
The general impression I have of “Motherland Nepal” is very good. They are genuinely concerned with the quality of their treks and the well beings of their clients. This information also comes from other people of different treks.
To anyone who reads this, I can warmly recommend them and I am sure you trek and safety will be in good hands. We finished our trek in 16 days and I am glad to say they were tiring, wonderful and exciting at the same time. An experience for life.
Meganath thanks again (also for the tea!) and I hope to see you again in the (near) future.

I am very impressed with all of those I met at Motherland Trekking.

Subjects : Thank you
Dear Elsie,
The day you walked into Changes was a blessed day, because through our conversation I got to experience a bit of Nepal. For that, I want to thank you.
Now I am back in Canada, I’m of two minds. Part of my brain is telling me how much I take for granted: a white porcelain sit-down toilet, a shower that flows with never-ending hot water, central heating, appliances a new car. Yet to touch down in Canada right smack in the middle of the Christmas madness, is frightening. People are spending so much money on needless gifts. I constantly think of how often they sang and whistled under those heavy loads and how all this joy came from something “inside”. I’m in culture shock. Even though I’m enjoying all of our amenities. I see clearly that all of us have too much of everything and that we’re not happy for it.
Yet the other half of my brain, while waxing nostalgic over Nepal, does not want to live that life style. Enough of Dal Bhat! Enough of all bland food flavored wit hyak dung smoke! Enough of freeze ass mornings with no showers! Yet never enough of Nepal itself and its beautiful street scenes landscapes and people.
Our trip was excellent in that, Shiva Hari, for all his inexperience, has the personality to make things happen. He is intelligent and very sensitive to the feelings of others, so right from the get-go, he hired the right porters and paid attention to those in our group who needed it . For several reasons, we fortunate to have a small group of 3. The only drawback I could see was that Shiva didn’t have enough medical savvy and there could foreseeable be problems in that area in the future. We were all thankful we visited the medical clinic in Pheriche, because Dr. Anderson taught us a lot and helped us with what was in the kit. I don’t know if you are aware of this, but Dr. Eric Anderson told us that 8 people had died during the two weeks we were trekking: 6 of AMs left unattended, one helicopter pilot whose chopper crashed after he picked up woman suffering from AMs and a man who was gored by a yak. The combination of the visit Nepal 1998 campaign, “Into thin Air” by john Krakauer and the Imax Everest production are bringing droves of people to the Everest area who have no concept of what it takes to get there and back safely. Thank you for insisting that (1) we hear the talk at the Pheriche and (2) that we have acclimatization days and (3) that we go slowly, eat and drink liters of water.
I picked up my slides today and viewed them. More than once I instinctively put my hand over my heart. I was moved at what I saw on the screen. The whole spiritual, emotional and physical experience came flooding back and for that is want to thank you.
I am very impressed with all of those I met at Motherland Trekking. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that company for fine people. I look forward to seeing you the next time you are in Canada. In fact, I would be happy to organize a get-together of our group so we can all visit you at once. If I can collect anything to send back wit hyou (i.e. fleece clothing or English dictionaries) to Nepal the next time you are in Canada, just let me know. That kind of thing comes naturally to me. Ohm. Ohm.
