Langtang Region Trek

The Langtang Valley is a beautiful alpine reigion to the North of Kathmandu bordering Tibet. The Langtang trek offers the greatest diversity with the least effort of any trek in Nepal. There is a series of nort-south running valleys that provide a variety of possible trekking routes. The Gosaikunda and Helambe region lie to its south; these can be combined with Langtang to make treks from 7 days to 21 days.

The area was designated Nepal's first Himalayan National Park in 1971, it is inhabitated by Tamang people whose religious practices, languages and dress are much more similar to those of Tibetan than to the traditions of their cousins in the middle hills. Here the high alpine scenery, with mountains visible from inhabited nature of the country makes this an ideal destination for trekkers who are on a tight time schedule.

Gosainkunda Holy Lake: 4361 mtr.

The Gosainkunda lake are the site of an August Full-moon festival, known as Janai Purnima, attended by some 10,000 religious pilgrims and Jhakris (shammans). Legend tells of Lord Shiva thrusting his trident into the earth from whence these jewel-like lakes arose.

Helambu Culture Trek: 2560 mtr.

The Helambu trek is a short, relatively easy (ideal for families) trek, enjoyable all year-round. in January-February, the yolmo people celebrate Tibetan new year with colorful dancing at the monasteries. Spring sees brilliant displays of rhododendron and Premula blooms, and autumn comes alive with post-monsoon greenery

Langtang Base Camp Trek (3950 mtr.)

These treks offer a variety of picturesque villages and breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the Langtang ranges. Central Nepal is a fine introduction into some of the more off-the-beaten path trekking as the terrain is constant, but not too steep, and the altitude is relatively low. This is one of the few areas that are best visited in winter as the summer months can get a bit hot. Langtang is one of the least trekked, yet one of the most beautiful, trekking areas. Located north of the Kathmandu Valley, the route goes through traditional and ethnic villages and untouched forests on the way to the peaks of Langtang-Lining. This trek reveals the contrast between the Hindu culture of the Kathmandu Valley and the Buddhist culture to the immediate north of Kathmandu. The highlights of this tour include the visit to Langtang Valley, Kyangin Gompa (monastery) and the Liriung Glacier. Moderate to strenous trekking and lodging between 2000 m and 4,380 m and optional hiking to 5,033 m on Tserko Ri Peak. Accommodation in comfortable lodges run by local families. The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu and includes all meals, services of experienced trek guide and porters to carry luggage. Clients carry a day-pack only and walk at their own pace.

Langtang Valley / Holy Gosainkunda Lake Trek

North of Kathmandu valley lies Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Nestled at the foot of these Himalayan ranges is a beautiful, secluded, valley filled with natures bounty- the Langtang National Park. Here the rare red pandas lurk in dense lichen-draped rhododendron thickets, hears of blue sheep graze the alpine meadows and glaciated valleys amidst a scenery of lofty Himalayan peaks. From Kyanjing Gompa we will have a chance to climb a ridge on Tserko Ri Peak 5033 m., or hike to the foot of Langshisa glacier, for an incredible view of glaciers, ice falls and snow fields surrounded on all sides by high mountains. On the way return we will hike up to the holy Gosainkunda lakes and Laurebenayak pass where the Home of Lord Shiva according to the Hindu Mythology. At Gosainkunda we will able to see more than 5 lakes which lies over 4200 mtr. The region of Langtang and Gosainkunda although easily approached from Kathmandu is far less trekked than the Annapurna or Everest areas making it all the more attractive. A wonderful walk through a naturalist's trail. Moderate to strenous trekking and lodging between 2000 m and 4380 m with one pass crossing of 4,610 m and optional hiking to 5,033 m on Tserko Ri Peak. Helambu Cultural Trek

The Sherpa villages of Helambu due north of Kathmandu valley presents an easy gataway. This area because of its low elevation and the Sherpa villages make it an interesting 6 day loop. Starting with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal the trail to Helambu climbs on to the Shivapuri ridge from where there are sweeping views of the central Himalayas. Following a ridgeline the trek heads north to Thare Pati before turning east to Melemchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang the principle villages of this area. From here we visit Shermathang before descending to the Melamchi river to end our trek with a drive Melamchi Bazaar back to Kathmandu. The trek is combined with the two days Chitwan wildlife reserve, known for one Horned Rhino, Bengal Tiger, sloth bear, wild boar, barking deer and over 300 species of birds. Moderate trekking between altitudes of 1,370 m to 3,490 m. Accommodation in comfortable lodges run by local families. The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu, clients carry a day-pack only and walk at their own pace.
